Maxer Host offer a free website migration service. This is a service offered to new customers to facilitate a smooth migration to Maxer Host. Our technicians will assist you by migrating your hosting account or website from your old provider to Maxer Host. We can also advise you on domain name transfers.

Please note some important points:

  1. Website migrations and domain name transfers are completely different procedures. Please don't assume that by transferring your domain name you have also migrated your website.
  2. The website migration service is free and it's also very popular. We migrate tens or hundreds of customers every week. A migration can take a few hours, but it might also take a few weeks if we're very busy. Please be patient.
  3. There may be some downtime, particularly with large websites. We'll try to prevent and minimise any downtime, and carry out most migration work outside office hours.
  4. We request that you give us full access to your old provider so we can manage a smooth migration, without having to go back and forward to you many times.
  5. We provide 24/7 technical support to thousands of customers. If there is an urgent matter or high-priority support request (e.g. outage, hardware failure), please understand that we may need to postpone your website migration. Even if we schedule a job in advance, there is always a possibility that other jobs will have to take priority.
  6. Sometimes the previous web hosting provider may experience problems and this will delay us migrating your website. Please make sure your website is operational with the previous web hosting provider. We can't copy a website if your previous provider has removed or suspended your web hosting account.
  7. When the migration is complete, you must check your website thoroughly. We will always try to achieve the best possible migration, but due to the many factors involved, we make no guarantee for the quality of the migration. The responsibility lies with the client to check your website is running from the Maxer Host servers.
  8. Make sure that there's enough free disk space available. We often need to make a full backup of your account and transfer it over, which temporarily requires at least 50% of free disk space to store the backup.

Also, it's important to distinguish exactly what we can copy. Customers who request a migration should be aware of what our technicians will be copying. If your previous web hosting provider uses cPanel control panel (www.cpanel.net), then we can copy everything across. We use cPanel on our own hosting servers and therefore copying a cPanel account is more straightforward. We will login to the cPanel control panel at your old provider, take a backup, copy it to our servers and restore it. The backup will include all files, databases and email accounts intact. Therefore, everything will be copied. Once that's done, we'll update the DNS nameservers on your domain name and your website will go live with Maxer Host. That's it!

However, if your previous hosting provider uses Plesk, DirectAdmin, ISPConfig or any other hosting control panel, we will only be able to copy limited data from your old provider. We will login to the control panel, download your files (using file transfer protocol or FTP), download your databases (using phpMyAdmin, software used for databases), and then upload them to your new hosting account at Maxer Host. Once that's done, we'll update the DNS nameservers on your domain name and your website will go live with Maxer Host. This process involves much more manual work, and you'll notice that email accounts are not copied across. You'll need to login to your new cPanel control panel at Maxer Host, go to the 'Email Accounts' page, and setup all your email accounts.
