Multi-Year Renewals
Most domain extensions are available to register for between 1-10 years, with a small number of exceptions:
- .AT (Austria), .BE (Belgium), .CH (Switzerland), .DE (Germany), .DK (Denmark), .FR (France) and .ZA (South Africa) domain names are only renewed 1 year at a time.
- .COM.AU (Australia) domain names are only renewed 2 years at a time.
- .CO (Columbia), .FI (Finland) and .PT (Portugal) domain names are only renewed 1-5 years max.
To the best of our knowledge, all other domain extensions can be registered for between 1-10 years.
Domain extensions we cannot transfer in
- .BR (Brazil) and .CN (China) domain names cannot be transferred in
Domain Transfers without any renewal required
Most domain extensions require a 1 year renewal when transferred from one provider to another (so there is a fee), with a small number of exceptions:
- .UK (including .co.uk .me.uk and .org.uk), .COM.AU (Australia), .CZ (Czech Republic), .FI (Finland), .CO.NZ (New Zealand), .PL (Poland) and .ZA (South Africa) domain names do not require a renewal during transfer, therefore the transfer is free.
- .DK (Denmark) and .ES (Spain) domain names do not require a renewal during transfer, however there is still a transfer fee!
Domain Transfers where existing registration period is lost
Most domain extensions will keep the existing registration period and add 1 year, for example a renewal date 30 Dec 2022 (pre-transfer) becomes 30 Dec 2023 (post-transfer). There are a small number of exceptions where the existing time is lost:
- .BE (Belgium), .DE (Germany), .FR (France), .IT (Italy) domain transfers - the new expiry date will be exactly 1 year from today, any other time will be lost.
Advanced renewal dates
Renewals for a small number of domain extensions are processed well in advance of their expiry date.
- 30 days in advance - .AT (Austria), .CH (Switzerland), .DE (Germany), .FR (France), .PH (Phillipines) and .ZA (South Africa).
- 60 days in advance - .DK (Denmark), .FI (Finland), .IT (Italy), .PT (Portugal) and .SI (Slovenia).
This is because the registries have special renewal conditions and/or immediate redemption fees for late renewals (without the usual grace period).
What domain extensions are offered free with a new hosting order?
The following TLDs are currently available for free registration and will be applied a discount during the sign-up process when paying yearly in advance (or longer):
- .click, .space, .uk, .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .com, .com.au, .eu, .ie, .link, .me, .mobi, .net, .org, .us, .ws, .xyz, .au *
* This list may change at any time and without notice. While domain names remain on the free list, they will be free with a hosting renewal. However, changes in pricing or renewal policy may result in domain names being removed from the free domain list.
The free domain name must always match the domain name on your hosting plan.
